What to Expect

One of the ‘old faithfuls’ of the Okavango Delta, Camp Xakanaxa provides a particularly well-rounded safari experience. Set inside Moremi Game Reserve on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, the camp boasts year-round game drives and water activities: a rarity in the region due to seasonal water fluctuations. The exceptionally diverse terrain – from old-growth riverine forests and open savannah plains to meandering channels and seasonal floodplains – attracts an exceptional array of wildlife for fantastic land and water game-viewing.

Constructed from local timber with a thatched roof and open sides, the main area sits on stilts with sweeping views across the lagoon. The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating and there is a well-curated library, while the dining room boasts a long table beneath rustic chandeliers. A spacious deck, offering open-air seating under enormous leadwood trees, stretches toward a plunge pool and a sala with a day bed. A circular fire-deck extends over the water, for atmospheric outdoor evenings. There is also another larger pool and sundeck within the camp’s grounds.
