What to Expect
Recently refurbished, Camp Okavango now offers some of the most beautiful and elegant accommodation available in this pristine region of the Delta. This part of the private Shindi concession has a wide range of habitats but is dominated by permanent channels and shallow floodplains, making activities primarily water-focused. There is no vehicle traffic to disturb the peace. This camp suits a traveller whose priority is relaxation and experiencing the stunning landscape surrounding this private, luxurious camp. It offers an altogether different experience of the wilderness, where seeing big game is not the sole focus.
Playing on the theme of the Delta’s multitude of islands interconnected by channels and waterways, the camp’s saligna walkways wind and weave their way around the island, linking the guest suites with two lounge areas, a bar and dining room, a small library and a curio shop. Another wooden walkway leads to a very cool infinity pool right on the edge of the swamp, with plenty of comfortable sun-loungers under a shade-giving thatched lapa. Find a double fire pit on the deck in front of the lounge and dining room, that makes clever use of some beautiful wooden benches and maximises the mesmerizing view.
