What to Expect
Phinda Mountain Lodge offers three distinct room types, featuring a total of 16 suites, six cottages that can be combined into three family cottages, and an exclusive family suite. These accommodations are thoughtfully designed to invite an abundance of natural light, with private decks that provide exceptional views of the landscape. Each unit also boasts an outdoor shower, a well-stocked personal bar, and a private plunge pool.
The lodge’s communal spaces include a convivial bar area and a kitchen designed for interactive dining, complete with a pizza oven—an exciting opportunity for kids to create their own meals. Evening meals are taken to the next level with al fresco dining under the starlit sky in a traditional stone and reed boma, romantically illuminated by numerous candles and lanterns.
The lodge further caters to your needs with a gracefully designed rim flow pool that follows the natural topography of the hill and offers splendid views of the Lebombo foothills. Additionally, guests can maintain their fitness routine in the state-of-the-art gym and indulge in peaceful treatments in the massage sala. The on-site Safari shop showcases the finest regional basket and beadwork, adding a touch of local craft to your stay.

Family Suites
Spacious and comfortable, the beautiful family suite at &Beyond Phinda Mountain Lodge is designed to provide just the right balance of privacy and security for larger families travelling with children. The suite boasts a shared lounge area as well as two elegant adult bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom (with indoor and al fresco showers) and two interleading children’s rooms, ensuring that parents can keep a watchful eye on younger children. A private veranda off the shared lounge offers the ideal setting for gathering and swapping tales of the day’s adventures, whilst a nearby pathway leads directly to the covered deck around the lodge pool. Booking the family suite entitles you to a dedicated private safari vehicle for the group, ensuring a tailor-made family safari experience for everyone. The family suite can accommodate up to four adults and four children.
Cottages
Phinda Mountain Lodge’s six guest cottages each feature an elegant ensuite bathroom, private sitting area and a veranda with a plunge pool and outdoor shower. The cottages are slightly smaller than the suites, and feature interleading doors which convert them into family cottages.
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives that continue after nightfall. &Beyond’s professionally trained guides will ask you about your favourite wildlife and will do their best to ensure that your preferences are met, whether it is tracking a particular species or spending more time enjoying each sighting and getting to know the habits of the animals. They will also tell you about the vegetation of the region and will explain the behaviour of the animals that you come across. In some cases, the guides will be able to identify individual animals and let you know about their history and habits.
&Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve is renowned for its exceptional sightings of the elusive cheetah and the rare black rhino, as well as the Big Five. There is also a number of resident lion prides and rangers will do their best to provide you with an exceptional sighting of all of these animals.
Accompanied by your ranger, enjoy an interpretive nature walk, around the lodge, where you learn more about the intricacies of the African bush, from discovering fascinating flora and reading animal tracks with your guide to meeting smaller wildlife up-close.
