What to Expect
Monachira is named after the Monachira channel which flows past the island on which the camp is situated. The camp is raised on wooden decks to give one a view of the floodplains and wetlands which stretch out in front of camp. Monachira offers water activities, island nature walks and wildlife drives.
Based in the Moremi Game Reserve, these activities will take you to some of the more remote areas in the delta. A motorboat ride promises to enthral you and captivate you, with the chance of seeing iconic wildlife from the river. Glide on quiet mokoro’s through the water lilies and view wildlife from below as you sail along at water level height.
Highlights
Our game drives are led by experienced guides with an in-depth knowledge of the area and its wildlife. Travel in comfort in our robust, open-air vehicles, specially designed for exceptional game viewing. With a maximum of six guests per vehicle, every seat is a window seat, ensuring an immersive and unobstructed safari experience.
Cruise through the calm waterways of the Okavango Delta, exploring the most remote, untamed sections of its tributaries. As Monachira is situated in the permanent water areas of the Okavango Delta, boating is available year-round. Enjoy the uniqueness of a game viewing from the water, where you can observe the iconic behaviour of wildlife as they swim, drink, and bask along the banks of the tributaries, all from the safety of your boat.
